Just today I was looking through some of the drafts I wrote in November for "MicroWriMo." I go back to such drafts when I need inspiration and/or don't feel like starting a draft from scratch. There's almost always something I can use. And I'm often stunned at what I came up with (especially when the drafts have been written very quickly and then set aside for months) lol. Really, I wrote that?! :D
I get sad when my folder of cannibalizable (not a word?) stories gets low or is just full of dull rocks for just that reason! But then I usually find another folder full of dirt to search through.
I write my poems and teeny tiny stories in one shot. I rewrite while I write. Then I go back, an hour later or maybe the next day, and edit. If I do more than that I start to overthink it. If I try to work with past snippets it never works for me. I've tried to make myself be different but I can't so this must be my process. I always think what if I want to write a novel? Or a screenplay? I will need a different process!
Thanks Angela! It's funny how different we all are in these ways! :) If it works for you, it works for you! I have writer friends who are similarly wired. They can't go back to older stuff that didn't make it. Instead, they sit down and write something new. fyi I tend to rewrite while I write as well. I have mixed feelings about this, though, and sometimes force myself not to by writing on a black screen. I will make a post about this sometime!

I haven't heard of "MicroWriMo." Same thing as NaNoWriMo only for microfiction?
Yes. I created a prompt-driven group called MicroWriMo on Facebook. Have been doing so for years We write every day on November to my prompts.
What a wonderful idea!
Thank you for the information!
Yes :-)
I cannibalize my failed stories on a regular basis. What's bad for one story can be good to creating another.
Yes, me too. Well said. Thanks so much for your comment.
Thanks--and your welcome! It's the reason I don't get writer's block.
