Forgive the blatant self-promotion, yet I think my flash suite “Lashed” published by After Happy Hour (2023) meets the funny/sad criteria. I too remain mystified why serious/tragedy is taken more seriously, but I think that’s the way it has forever been in the arts.
Just read your story!! It made me laugh. You created an entire narrative in so few words. Well done! Also, I hadn't read this journal before -- thanks for the introduction!

Gosh Sheree I love this. Have you read Amelia Grey’s AM/PM?
I have not! A quick search on the author makes me curious, thanks for the suggestion and kind words.

🙂
I love the circularity of yours Sheree!
I quite often write stories with dark or twisted endings, and (forgive the self-promotion) here is a recently-published one of mine.

Giggling here. This is terrific!
Angela, I did not see “that” coming, nice work, actually a couple of “thats”. Nice work!
Love these examples! I think one of my stories published in Matter Press matches the theme: https://matterpress.com/journal/2023/04/03/how-to-cherish-your-daughter/
!!!! I so enjoyed this!!
Thank you! I’m honoured you liked it!
I love flash that is darkly comic, reading them and writing them.
You’re gifted at this!
ahhh, thank you
I enjoy fifty-word stories because you can filter on various categories -- 'amusing' being one of them. http://fiftywordstories.com/category/stories/amusing-stories/
