I am an anxious writer by nature, and have been giving this some thought lately. I realize that the problem for me is that every sentence I write reminds me of how many other sentences could have been written instead. There is simply too much possibility, and it can drive me crazy. It’s compulsive and far too easy for me to look at what I’ve just constructed and think, but I could also say it THIS OTHER way….

It takes all the discipline I can conjure not to avoid writing for this very reason. Much easier to clean the already clean kitchen, or walk the already walked dog for the fifth time in a morning! A dog who really has no further interest in being walked…
