Dear writers, hello! The next “Submit or Quit” submissions event will take place on Sunday, June 29th for paid subscribers to this newsletter and/or my other newsletter Prompts of Resilience. The event will be held asynchronously, so writers worldwide can pop in any time of the day or evening. It is currently being held on a bi-monthly basis.
Because the numbers of lit mags are overwhelming, I will be curating and posting links to a handful of open and interesting submissions opportunities. If you are a lit magazine editor, it would be wonderful if you could let us know if (or when) you have an upcoming open submissions call.
How it works: underneath the paywall on this post there is a link to our private/invisible dedicated Substack group devoted entirely to Submit or Quit. If you joined last time, you won’t need to worry about this step — you’re already in.
The goal for participating writers will be to submit to at least 3 publications on the appointed day and to pop in and let us know how you’re doing. If you can submit to 5 or 6 places, even better! There are community posts for you to chime in and share your experiences. Submitting is hard work, and my goal is to make it fun.
Writers will be encouraged to let the others know when they have met their goals, and it will encourage others to do the same.. I’d love it if you would like to post words of wisdom and humor, as submitting is tiring, and we could all use a boost!
The more interactive and community-oriented this featured event become, the better. It may take a few months of these events to build energy, and thank you for being part of this feature as it grows!
