Open Registration for a new workshop (mid-April) and writing news...
Hello to my writing friends and students. I hope you are all doing well and that your writing lives are thriving!
I wanted to let you know that I’m offering a 5 day prompt-driven microfiction workshop in April (April 15th- 19th).
Photos & Words Microfiction will be held on Facebook in a private group. This is a workshop I love teaching! Students from my former photo and word prompt workshops over the years have created wonderful, original stories which have been published in The London Independant Story Prize, McSweeney’s, The Best Small Fictions, Smokelong Quarterly and Wigleaf!
I’m also happy to say I have some lovely writing news to share. I have a new book of microfiction, “Spinning to Mars”, forthcoming in June from San Francisco’s Blue Light Press! It received the Blue Light Book Award in 2020. I was thrilled to hear that two of my stories, “Between Animals” from Vox Populi and “Love Street Blues” from Fractured Lit were chosen for a forthcoming international anthology of hybrid forms edited by Cassandra Atherton and Paul Hetherington. It will be published by Gazebo Books! I’ve also had quite a few new published stories over the last few month, including “Australia” at Ghost Parachute, “The Plank” at New World Writing, “at home when you aren’t home anymore” at Unbroken, “Rain Must Fall” (co-written with Aimee Parkson), 3 stories in New World Writing, “Pet Loss” in Daily Drunk Magazine and “Loss” in Fifty-Word-Story, all cowritten with Jeff Friedman.
I hope you are all doing well. I look forward to seeing some of you in the April workshop!
Warm regards,
Meg
