MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Dear writers, hello! My next bi-monthly “Submit or Quit Event” will take place on June 29th for paid subscribers to this newsletter, and/ or paid subscribers to Prompts of Resilience. The event will be asynchronously, so writers worldwide can pop in any time of the day or evening.
The first 2 Submit or Quit events were successful! I heard from numerous writers that they submitted their work during the event, and felt warmed and heartened by the community. That made me happy. I submitted as well! Since then, I have received 5 rejections (ha!) and 3 acceptances.. I think that’s a fine ratio.
How it works: Days before the event I will post a link to a private and invisible dedicated Substack group devoted entirely to Submit or Quit Events.
The goal for participating writers will be to PROMISE to submit to at least 3 publications on the appointed day each month, and if you can submit to 5 or 6 places, even better!
Because the numbers of lit mags are overwhelming, I will be curating and posting links to a handful of open and interesting submissions opportunities each time. If you are a lit magazine editor, it would be wonderful if you could let us know if (or when) you have an upcoming open submissions call.
Writers will be encouraged to let the others know when they have met their goals, and it will encourage others to do the same.. I’d love it if you would like to post words of wisdom and humor, as submitting is tiring, and we could all use a boost!
The more interactive and community-oriented this featured event become, the better. It may take a few months of these events to build energy, and thank you for being part of this feature as it grows!
Looking so forward to June 29th! See you all there..
Hi Meg, I received a verification code but it doesn't lead anywhere. Furthermore Substack seems to have opended a writing page for me to write my own material - I didn't ask for that. I just wanted to be able to comment in response to your prompts, and submit to the publishers you recommend. I know this is not your problem but I have tried to find someone on Substack to respond to my questions but all that comes up is a list of links to answers that are irrelevant. Am I doing something wrong?
Just signed up and don't have the link yet. Already sent out?
