Dear writers, I can’t tell you how excited I am to host our first asynchronous Sunday SUBMIT OR QUIT community submissions event.
Here is how it works. First of all, you will need to subscribe to my new private Substack portal for these events.
SUBMIT OR QUIT is created to be a submissions accountability forum and monthly community event.
Submitting is hard and dull. I hope to create a friendly, fun, supportive experience, and to offer hand-picked opportunities and community interaction. I’d also like to find creative ways (including humor) to cope with the stress of submitting.
Because this special substack is private and invisible, this means you will have to request to be added as a subscriber. For that reason, I’m posting the (below the paywall) link a few days early. I’ll be accepting your requests to be added (when not sleeping!) over the next few days.
The link is below the paywall …
So please request to subscribe asap. Once there, ideally it would be best to clock in and get to work on Sunday (which is the day we set aside for this event). If Sunday is busy for you, you are welcome to participate a few days early.
THE IDEA IS FOR EVERYONE TO SUBMIT AT LEAST 3 PIECES this Sunday. All of you write different kinds of pieces, so I’ve tried to make a broad list of opportunities, with an emphasis on flash (no genre or smaller, niche categories at this point, but possibly in future events).
Once you get to the Submit or Quit substack portal, you’ll find menu items on the top bar, including my hand-picked list of 21 opportunities (open calls). I have focused on collecting a live list of solid, reputable (but not impossible) lit mags with great track records, and with editors who are themselves excellent writers. All of them are currently open.
There are other sections for resources, a community discussions area. This area is important! Please chime in there! Finally, have included some humor pieces to juice things up. Enjoy!
