Ekphrastic & Surreal Workshop with Meg Pokrass & Lorette C. Luzajic: Jan 28th-Feb 1, 2022
This is a 5-day Ekphrastic Microfiction workshop with Meg Pokrass, Co-Editor of Best Microfiction, and Lorette C. Luzajic, Founding Editor of the Ekphrastic Review! We'll be focusing on writing surreal microfiction stories inspired by the works of great surrealist artists, offering highly generative, creative prompts from selected paintings.
Surrealist art aims to illuminate the human condition. It combines rational ways of seeing the world by working with the unconscious, associative logic and dreams. Surrealist art surprises the reader or the viewer with the weird beauty found in the unexpected and the uncanny. The core of this movement is to challenge imposed values and norms, creating a kind of emotional freedom.
The course will be held in a private Facebook group. Word count is 400 words per story. There will be supportive, insightful instructor on every story, as well as peer feedback. $195 USD.
